ARF Youth Board Organizes Leadership Development Seminar
LOS ANGELESThe Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western USA Youth Board announced Thursday that beginning Sunday it will be hosting a series of educational sessions geared toward developing leadership skills among members from the Armenian Youth Federations Western Region.
The AYF Leadership Development Seminar, which will kick off on Sunday, will provide participants the knowledge and resources to better lead their members and reach out to Armenian youth at large.
Divided into four eight-hour sessions, participants will learn about effective leadership and management, grassroots activism, media and public relations, ARF ideology and strategic event planning.
Five guest speakers, each experts in their respective fields, have been invited to lecture, host workshops and hold discussions with the participants.
“We have spared nothing to assure that professionals with strong expertise and great experience are present to address the participants,” said Melkon Melkonian, a member of the ARF Youth Board. “The AYF has historically been the place where future leaders of our community have come from, therefore we want to do our part to ensure that they are well-prepared to organize and lead our community,” said Melkonian.
Guest speakers for the seminar include Mr. Adrin Nazarian, chief of staff for California State Assembly Member Paul Krekorian; Dr. Razmig Shirinian, professor of political science at College of the Canyons; Steve Artinian, Chairman of Homenetmen Western Region and vice president of marketing for Home Organizers, Inc.; Mr. Harry Glorikian, founder and president of Scientia Advisors, an international management and strategy consulting firm; and Naush Boghossian, a journalist and former reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News.
The first session of the seminar will start on Sunday June 8; the final session will be held on July 27, the 25th anniversary of martyrdom of the Lisbon 5.
The ARF Western Region Youth Board is a newly formed entity of the regions Central Committee. One of the primary goals of the board is to offer members of the AYF, ARF Badanegan and Armenian youth at large with education, guidance and assistance to become better individuals and better equipped to lead our community.
